Apple Corps - Help End Hunger in San Francisco
Sisterhood has identified a group volunteer opportunity at the SF Food Bank called Apple Corps, a program that allows us to make a lasting contribution and demonstrate our committment to end hunger in San Francisco. Contact the office if you would like to join a monthly group on a Sunday at the SF Food Bank from 9am to noon. All ages are welcome, even as young as 4 years old! We began in November 2008 and hope to establish a long tradition of service. Not everyone would need to participate every month, as long as we have a core number of regulars. For more information, please see this webpage.
Project Homeless Connect
Project Homeless Connect is a national best practice model that originated in San Francisco. Every other month over 1000 community volunteers partner with city government, non-profits and the private sector to provide a one-stop shop of health and human services for homeless San Franciscans. Rabbi Mark would like to get a group together for all day, half day or even just one hour. Contact the office if you would like to join us!

Share Yourself – You Have So Much to Give
For the past four years, many of us from B’nai Emunah have been visiting at the Jewish Home just after services, usually on the third Shabbat each month. Over the years this group has included sixteen congregants, Cantor Linda, and most recently Rabbi Mark!
We have the privilege of visiting with some of the residents as we share a beverage and cookies at their afternoon kiddush. When there were still former members of B’nai Emunah living there, we would often go to their rooms to visit or bring them to the atrium to join others. Some of our volunteer members have developed special relationships with a few of the residents and look forward to visiting them and hearing about their activities.
We would love having more volunteers join us on our visits to the Jewish Home. For anyone interested, please contact the office.
The High Holy Days Food Drive – and an Opportunity to BE Part of the Solution
Congregation B’nai Emunah will be holding its annual High Holy Days Food Drive, in connection with the San Francisco Food Bank, on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Please remember those who are less fortunate and hungry, and bring a can or box of nonperishable food when you come to services. Glass items are not acceptable due to chance of breakage.
