Forty faces filled the sanctuary as we celebrated Simchat Torah on Tuesday evening, Oct. 21. Seven Torah scrolls rounded the hall for the seven hafakot as everyone got the opportunity to dance with a Torah. Candy was passed out on each hafakah to young and old alike. Then the Torah scroll was unrolled, as usual, but this year we unrolled it all the way around the sanctuary. Rabbi Mark pointed out interesting features and answered questions galore. We learned that there really are seven books in the Torah, how to find the beginning of each book, how to spot poetry, and more! When the Torah was read, all of the children participated in the aliyot, reciting the blessings as adults held a tallit over their heads. It was night of fun and learning and lots of candy!
